3 things about my marriage
- I married a guy that saves the day more times than I can count. How about the time he completed the floral arrangement for Sacrament meeting because I was too intimidated by the craftiness of it. Or the many occasions that he straightens the piece of hair I can't reach in the back of my head. I could also add the time he themed my birthday in all things patriotic and made El Rancho cuisine the best he could all while being about as far away from America as possible. Or how he folds laundry and makes beds that puts grandmas to shame.
- The guy I married supports me in all my over the topness. When I say I am going to run a marathon once, twice, and thrice now, he has smiled and said go for it. When I said I could not wait one more day to start my Masters he said go for it. When I run at 5 am OR go to school at 5am he kisses me goodbye. He is never critical of my ambitions. He makes me want to be a more passionate person about the things I love; which explains why I have ran 3 marathons, 3 half marathons, and countless other races in the last 3 years I have been wearing a wedding ring. When I insist on blaring George Strait even though cowboy boots aren't within 10,000 miles he smiles and sings along. Or when I explain how listening to 80's music actually boosts my productivity while working on my homework he takes a deep breath and says I am a weirdo.
- Lastly, I would say that our marriage contains a spark unique only to us. It is that blending of bleeding patriotism mixed with the no worries kiwi attitude. It is the understanding that we are different people from different cultures, yet there is a point that somewhere along the way we stopped caring about geography.
